Billing Questions:

Get to the Root program: The cost is billed on sign up. We also offer a 3 month payment plan. The listed price paid upfront is 10% less than using the payment plan. You can select either option from the drop down menu during sign up.
We offer to spread out the cost of our consultations and labs to a 3 month payment, though much of the work and costs are upfront. Because of this, we cannot accept early cancellations of the Get to the Root program.

Stay Grounded: Maintenance membership offered after the Get to the Root program. This is a recurring monthly membership that is enrolled after the Get to the Root program in order to reserve your ongoing spot in our membership practice. You will be notified before Stay Grounded begins, and will have the option to opt out if you choose not to continue after your Get to the Root program.

Stay Grounded Cancellation policy: You can cancel this Stay Grounded membership at any time by contacting Root and giving 30 days notice. Any charges that are pending in that 30 days will go through, and you will have access to Root services for the 30 days.
You can also elect to pay for 12 months upfront and save $300.

All memberships and payments are not refundable.

More Billing Info:
We accept credit/debit and can accept HSA/FSA cards for the cost of our monthly office visits and our included lab panel. If using an HSA/FSA card and opting for monthly payments, we require an additional backup payment method to be kept on file. Optional additional functional labs may be ordered outside of Root (directly through lab companies) and are not included in Root fees unless specified above in plan details. Monthly plan visit fees are auto-debited about the same time each month if choosing a monthly payment method.

Insurance questions: We do not accept insurance for Root consultation fees. We also cannot provide receipts for insurance or any other insurance-like vehicles that require itemized receipts because we are a membership practice. Part of your investment includes being in a small, personalized practice with more time during your sessions and more time outside of your sessions for your functional medicine team to collaborate and review detailed functional labs which are more difficult and time intensive to interpret than conventional labs. We also highly value transparency and want you to fully understand your investment. We do not want to mislead people to believe an insurance receipt will result in coverage of any part of our services or labs, because as we have seen in the past, when using insurance for labs similar to the ones we include, people end up with bills of over $2000. We want you to have the most important testing in our programs without any anxiety about unknown bills. The way we have structured our programs saves people thousands of dollars in unexpected costs that add up in other functional medicine practices.

Labs:

Get to the Root:  Your initial Root lab panel is included in your program cost. The Get to the Root program also includes a Functional Stool test called GI MAP.
We also offer additional, functional specialty testing such as food sensitivity tests (MRT), adrenal and hormone testing that you can add to our Get to the Root Program at an additional, but transparent cost.
Most of our members do not need additional testing outside of what is included in the Get to the Root program - we selected all the most helpful testing and included it so you won't have to worry about extra lab costs! However, some members do take advantage of access to additional functional testing, as it is not typically available in conventional medicine.

Supplements:

We did not include the cost of supplements in our programs because this is highly individualized based on your personal preferences, lab results, and health goals. Members receive 20% off Root supplements during their membership.

Program Length:

The length of the Get to the Root program is 3 months, starting with the date of your first online visit. Upon completion, you will automatically enroll in Stay Grounded in order to reserve your spot in our practice and assure follow up and availability of repeat lab orders.

Not Primary Care: 

We are functional medicine specialists and operate in a true functional medicine model of care. We cannot replace your primary care physician. We’re not available for same day or acute issues, or for insurance related physicals that are best provided by your primary care doctor.
