The Root Urine Iodine test is a convenient alternative to the traditional 24-hour urine collection method for measuring iodine levels. This test requires just two urine sample collections during the day.
This test is for people who experience 1 or more of the following:
- Uncontrolled hypothyroidism
- Feeling “unwell” despite being on the “right dose” of thyroid meds
- Fatigue

- If you take iodine supplements or foods daily, continue to take them as usual when testing.
- If you eat foods high in iodine, or take supplements only periodically, avoid them the day before and day of your urine collection.
- Avoid for 3 days prior to testing: biotin/vitamin B7 (hair and nail formulas).
